City of Colorado Springs Community Centers

Community Centers - Hillside, Deerfield, and Meadows Park

Located in areas impacted by marginalized socioeconomic conditions, each center strives to effectively develop creative solutions to improve the quality of life in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Unique partnerships between neighborhood associations, churches, schools, non-profit agencies, private businesses, and military installations allows the Colorado Springs Community Centers to create a unparalleled environment for learning, recreation, and personal growth. Additionally, the Community Centers provide comprehensive and integrated community-based services at a single site for youth, families, the elderly, and those with special needs.

Colorado Springs community centers are more than just places to gather — they are neighborhood hubs where children and families can access programs that spark curiosity, build skills, and foster a love for nature. Through the Generation Wild of the Pikes Peak Region Coalition, these community centers play a vital role in connecting local youth with the outdoors, often right in their own backyards.

Neighborhood-Based Access to Nature

Many families face barriers to outdoor recreation, from transportation challenges to limited awareness of nearby natural spaces. By hosting Generation Wild programs at trusted community centers, we bring nature-based learning directly into neighborhoods, making it easier for kids to explore, discover, and grow.

Programming for Every Age and Interest

From after-school nature clubs to family-friendly weekend adventures, programming at community centers covers a wide range of interests and ages. Younger children might join guided bug hunts or garden planting days, while teens can take part in wilderness hikes, conservation projects, and leadership development activities.

Affordable, Accessible, and Local

In partnership with numerous local organizations, many programs offered through community centers are free or available at low cost for qualified participants, especially in Southeast Colorado Springs. This ensures that every child — regardless of background — has the opportunity to experience the joy, confidence, and resilience that comes from spending time outdoors.

A United Effort

This work is made possible through a network of dedicated partners, educators, and community leaders working together under the Generation Wild umbrella. By combining resources and expertise, we’re able to offer more programs, reach more families, and create lasting change in how our community connects with the outdoors.
