Rocky Mountain Field Institute
Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) is a nonprofit dedicated to conserving and protecting public lands in Southern Colorado through hands-on stewardship projects and environmental education. Their work includes building and maintaining sustainable trails, restoring damaged ecosystems, and protecting fragile habitats for future generations.
As part of the Generation Wild of the Pikes Peak Region Coalition, RMFI offers youth programs that get kids directly involved in caring for the land. From trail-building days and habitat restoration projects to guided hikes and field-based science lessons, young participants gain practical skills, learn the importance of stewardship, and develop a lasting connection to Colorado’s natural spaces. By working side-by-side with conservation professionals, kids experience firsthand the impact they can have in protecting the places they love.
